Breakfast

BREAKFAST
Everyone is on an adventure when they come to the T-Rest. Breakfast is meant to be an oasis in your journey. This is a moment to enjoy quality coffee or tea, and savour something you may not often have elsewhere. I strive to make the breakfasts as unique as the house.
You’ll find freshly ground Colombian coffee, orange juice, and a relaxing two course breakfast. All breakfasts are served with either Greek yogurt with local berries reduced to a delicious compote or any one of the muffins, tarts, or sweet breads made here as well as seasonal mixed fresh fruit. In the summer I source as much as I can locally, (the Drumheller Farmer’s Market is a place to check out on Saturdays during the summer), and source from local businesses that produce quality foods right here in the valley.
Breakfast menus are determined according to the number of guests on any given day and will take into consideration food restrictions that are shared prior to arrival. The following are just some of the options you can expect when you stay at The Tyrannosaurus Rest.
BREAKFAST MAINS / CHEFS TABLE
Breakfast Tacos
Corn or flour oversized tortillas filled with homemade beans, barbacoa (slow cooked pulled beef with chile ancho), fresh salsa, and melted cheese. You’ll be surprised with its size, authentic flavour, and your ability to finish it!
TACOS DE BARBACOA
Corn tortillas filed with barbacoa. Served with salsa, beans, and a quesadilla or avocado and rajas de chili. My favourite breakfast from my traveling past. Strong coffee, tacos and orange juice.
It starts a great day.
Breakfast Pie
My mom’s pie crust recipe, filled with crisp hashbrowns, sauteed and seasoned vegetables, sharp cheddar cheese, fresh parsley and eggs, topped with lattice bacon. This allows you to justify having pie for breakfast. You’re welcome! 😉
P.S. Not a quiche!
Not So French, Toast
Ok, maybe it’s French bread (made locally, of course!), but taken a step further than your everyday French Toast. Apple butter, freshly whipped cream, homemade crab apple or maple syrup, fresh fruit and sausage makes this a meal to remember. Drumheller has a lot of dining options, but after this breakfast, you probably won’t want lunch.
Not heavy. Satisfying!
Waffles and ALL the Fixings!
Homemade waffles with your choice of toppings. Pile them on or go the traditional maple syrup route. It’s up to you! Served with fresh fruit, whipped cream, and thick sliced maple-glazed bacon, this is a breakfast that lets you enjoy the tastes of childhood. For me, a reminder of weekend breakfasts or special occasions.
It a good, hearty, homestyle breakfast with the slightest bit of style.
Poached Eggs, and friends…
Locally made sourdough, lightly toasted and buttered with melted brie and two (organic, free range) perfectly poached eggs, served with thick sliced bacon or sausages, and braised tomato.
An open-faced breakfast sandwich. I know, right?
Eggs in a Cloud
This breakfast was hugely popular in the 1930’s, and what a better place than here to bring it back? Egg whites whipped into a frenzy, baked to perfection and topped with the yolk during the final minutes of roasting. Eggs in a Cloud is served with braised tomato, locally sourced sourdough toast and sausage, accompanied by homemade hashbrowns.
The cat’s pajamas! (Ok, that’s from the 20’s…I tried…).
